Math

I was a little worried that as I posted harder math problems that there would be fewer responses but you have proven this to be untrue. It looks like everyone was able to get the right answer to last week’s problem but for those that have not looked at the great responses here is my work 2 different ways:

x^2 + x – 2 = 0
(x + 2)(x – 1) = 0
x + 2 = 0 and x – 1 = 0
x = -2 and x = 1

Or using the quadratic formula (that I’m sure you all remember)
if ax 2 + bx + c = 0 then
x = ( -b±√(b^2 - 4ac))/ 2a

x = (-1 ±√(1^2 – 4*1*-2))/2*1
x = (-1 ±√(1 – (-8)))/2
x = (-1 ±√9)/2
x = (-1 ± 3)/2
x = 2/2 = 1 and x = -4/2 = -2

So here is your next challenge:

Solve the following for the picture above:

sin θ = ?

cos θ = ?

tan θ = ?

csc θ = ?

sec θ = ?

cot θ = ?
