These are just off the top of my head. I plan to repost this chart in the future. Let me know if you think any of the line items are unfair or if you think some should be added on either side.

Does any one have Health Insurance anymore?

Back in May of 2007 I wrote a small piece for this blog called Redefining Insurance, in the piece I used the most simplistic terms to lay out the different between the Health Care plans we all have and Health Insurance.

Well it seems like I’m no longer alone in using this example: CSM: Why can't health insurance be more like auto insurance?

When will people wake up and realize that the governments idea is to pull us all into one large plan that they will administer…think about it like the Post Office or the DMV…long lines…”entitled employees”…and a constant drain on the taxpayers and the consumer.

Lefties and guns

This is not the way I want to start a morning.  I open my Google Reader to see the following story: Conceal and Carry on Two Wheels

Now you are all reading this and saying to your computer – “What did you expect? It is posted on folkbum’s blog!!”  And I really should know better but I usually can handle the lefty crap that is out there but every now and again there are things that just drive me nuts.

Bet you that if we had conceal and carry in Wisconsin, the bicyclist would have gotten a permit, so what we had here was a case of C and C de facto.

The worst part about it is this guy probably believes that!

This is not a case for or against CC in Wisconsin.  This was obviously a disturbed individual that took out his aggression on two police officers.  Trying to tie this to CC just makes the writer look like a kook.

CC is permitted in 48 states.  If there were cases, such as this, that involved a person with a CC permit I would guarantee these anti-personal protection people would be all over it and pounding the story until CC was removed from these states.

But the cost benefit of having so many guns flooding our society has not worked out in terms of situations like this one, or kids finding guns, suicides, settling arguments, etc.”

Cost benefit?!?  What the hell is he talking about?  Again we are not talking about a law abiding citizen.  If you want to talk about guns in the hands of criminals like this guy then lets talk about that but when you lump people like that in with the rest of us you cross a line that is not realistic.

If you really think that we should remove the right of all citizens to have guns because criminals use guns then you must believe that we need to ban computers because pedophiles use computers.

We are to blame!?!?

I’m tired of the left blaming the US for everything…but what makes it worse is when the secretary of state goes to a foreign country and states:

Our insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade. Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the death of police officers, soldiers and civilians.  I feel very strongly we have a co-responsibility.

Well hillary, I feel strongly too…you should leave this country and never come back!

Does anyone know if there is a way to revoke ones passport?!?!  Could we just leave her there in Mexico?!?

Global warming

As the Midwest is bombarded with super cold temps (see: here; here; here; here; here) Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) announced today that “Our committee will be acting quickly and decisively to reduce global warming and end our dependence on foreign oil” and that “Comprehensive global warming legislation will be sent to the House floor by Memorial Day.

WOW! I thought it was getting warmer out there…I thing the thermometer went from -10 to -5 in the last hour!!! OH NO!!!!

I love it!!!

The lefties are upset because the AP reported the following:

“It is, indeed, a last hurrah.

Edward M. Kennedy is taking the stage at the Democratic National Convention Monday night for what likely is his final appearance in a familiar setting.”

Posters on the Daily Kos were completely outraged!!

Time for Congress to hold hearings on media” posted by CTony

By far my favorite post was by MrvnMouse

“I know a bunch of young Republicans. So young, they never knew Kennedy in any real fashion. Yet, even they have this massive hate on for the Kennedys.

Did the Kennedys' do something I don't know about short of winning an election against Nixon?"

You have got to be kidding me?!?! Hate for the Kennedy's...you mean for Teddy Kennedy!

Have these people never heard of Chappaquiddick or of Mary Jo Kopechne?

We on the Right are outraged that the democrats continue to idolize a man who by his own admission “repeatedly dove down to the car in an attempt to see if the passenger was still in the car” but then did not contact the police until some time the next morning. He is conspired to cover up the death of Mary Jo Kopechne and democrats continue to carry water for him…year after year after year.

Democrats and Oil

This piece is worth reading: What Dems Can't Say About Drilling

Here is just a glimpse of what David Harsanyi has to say:

The problem is that when "green" fantasies crash onto the shores of economic reality (as they did with corn-based ethanol), we all suffer.

Don't worry, though, congressional Democrats have a bold plan. Hold on for 10 or 15 years and
they'll have a bounty of energy options. They promise. But no oil shale. No clean coal. No nuclear power. And definitely no more oil.

Ouch! What could be more damaging to a person than that? But those Democrats put their head in the sand and tell us that the sun is shining!!

Senator Mitch McConnell weighs in on the issue of drilling in today’s Wall Street Journal with this commentary: Democrats Should Let Us Drill

“the only thing now standing in the way of more domestic supply is the Democratic refusal to allow it.”

Imagine that Democrats not allowing progress…hmm…think: environmental standards….think: integration…this is just another example of the myopic vision of the “party of the people.”

Democrats and Gas Prices

Once again we are faced with the reality of “change” versus results.

Do you all remember 2006? The Democrats promised to change things for us. They said we were on the wrong track. People like Nancy Pelosi said that they would fix the problems and make America better.

Sounds a lot like what Obama is preaching...

Well here is what has happened to gas prices since they took over:

H/T silent E speaks

I think I would rather have steady prices (and lower taxes) than the “change” that is being proposed.

Should the State…

State Rep. Marlin Schneider (D-Wisconsin Rapids) is concerned with the growing cost of fuel in this country. So much so that here are the proposals offered by this Democrat to “make a massive effort to strike back against the oil speculators”:

  • going to four day work weeks with staggered schedules for employees
  • reducing speed limits
  • rearranging school athletic conferences
  • providing tax incentives for alternative energy installations
  • mandating internet classes for state university and technical college undergraduates at least in the first two years
  • restricting new building construction
  • additional tree planting in cities
  • nuclear energy facility construction
  • revisions in state building codes
  • incentives for business and residential buildings to reduce the size and prevent urban sprawl

Excuse me but how is changing our lives going to be a “strike back?”

Rep. Schneider you want “a bold initiative that can be a national model” well here it is: CALL FOR DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS TO PASS LEGISLATION ALLOWING THE DRILLING FOR OIL!!!

We have the ability to tap a vast amount of oil but we are doing nothing but sitting on it and suffering the consequences as oil tops $130 a barrel.

Additionally, how about we add:
  • increase the number of refineries that produce gasoline
  • remove the reformulated gasoline mandate for Wisconsin

Add what you’d like to the list…

To drill or not to drill…

Do you like paying $3.69 + for a gallon of gas? I know I don’t…but who do you think will do a better job lowering the price of gas here in the US, Democrats or Republicans?

Gateway Pundit put together the following which hits it right on the head:

Over the past 30 years:

Which party blocked the development of new sources of petroleum?-- Democrat

Which party blocked drilling in ANWR?-- Democrat

Which party blocked drilling off the coast of Florida?-- Democrat

Which party blocked drilling off of the east coast?-- Democrat

Which party blocked drilling off of the west coast?-- Democrat

Which party blocked drilling off the Alaskan coast?-- Democrat

Which party blocked building oil refineries?-- Democrat

Which party blocked clean nuclear energy production?-- Democrat

Which party blocked clean coal production?—Democrat

And then there is this little graph that is perfect!
